Bonne route et à bientôt!

High summer is approaching its finale with a flourish here at Rue Vincent. We have welcomed visitors from all over the UK, from Normandy, the Loire Valley, Spain and Queensland, Australia: families with teenagers and young children, couples, groups of adults and a few four-legged friends, too! Open until the end of September, we are now looking forward to meeting our late summer guests taking advantage of quieter flights, roads and ferries as well as our return to mid-season pricing.

The swimming pool has been, by turns, a hive of activity, filled with games of water polo, volleyball, hook-a-duck and peals of laughter; or a tranquil haven for reading, sunbathing and a cooling dip. Sunrises have been appreciated by early birds, off for a run or a cycle through the Charentais countryside; and sunsets admired in the garden by relaxed holidaymakers over a glass of chilled rosé.

Star-gazing at a clear night sky from our field has proved a big hit;  the games barn has played host to a whole summer of pool, table tennis and darts tournaments; while Giant Jenga and boules have whiled away a number of balmy evenings in the garden.  Indie, our Border collie, has been fussed over, played with and adopted by all-comers. She is having a wonderful summer, too and would like to thank all her new friends for the fun and games!

One of our guests will be following up his family holiday by competing in an international Ironman tournament in Austria as well as the World Triathlon Championships in Barcelona later this year. David, we hope that your early morning runs, cycle trips and daily swims have helped with your training and wish you bonne chanceWe look forward to hearing your news from both events and are delighted to be welcoming you and your family back to Rue Vincent next summer.

With so much to see and do locally, our guests have enjoyed exploring all that the region has to offer. Forays into St Jean or Aulnay on market days have yielded baskets brimming with local produce, turned by lunchtime and evening into tempting outdoor feasts and barbeques. Tales of sandy beaches and fabulous restaurants, along with visits to wonderful heritage sites in La Rochelle, Dampierre-sur-Boutonne, Saintes and Cognac, have been shared with us on many a summer evening over a chilled apéro.

It's been our pleasure to host some truly lovely people and to help them make the most of their holiday in our little corner of the Charente-Maritime.  We would be delighted to do the same for you, too. Booking now for 2016.

School holidays not an issue? Why not visit us here in May, June or September? One or two weeks still available for this September, too.

Just the two of you?  We offer a 10% discount for couples in all but peak season. Please ask us for details!
